Simply put, an Ebook or "Electronic Book" is a type of book or
manual that can be downloaded, stored on your computers hard
drive, and printed out on paper so you can read them pretty much anywhere you want.
In Case You Didn't Know
Once you download an Ebook you no longer need to be connected to the internet to actually view them.
The only place that Ebooks take up space is on your computers hard drive which eliminates the need to store them on a shelf in your home like traditional paper books. (A great space saver!)
Ebooks can be produced not only with text, but with the use of brilliant looking pictures to enhance the overall experience.
Unlike traditional books, an Ebook can even contain hyperlinks that will direct you to various other websites found on the internet.
When you're finished with an Ebook you can simply delete it from your computers hard drive or save it as long as you want.
Once you've downloaded an Ebook onto your computer, you may be required to also install specific types of software to allow you to actually open and read it.
The most common types of Ebooks are either PDF formats or .exe formats. PDF has become the standard format.
Just like paper books, Ebooks can be read over and over again, but Ebooks don't wear out from use. (Unless a file becomes corrupted, but that is a rare occurrence.)
When downloading Ebooks for free or purchasing, you can instantly receive your book. No need to travel to the book store, be put on a waiting list, or wait days or weeks for the post office to deliver the book to your house.
With Ebooks there's absolutely no need to cut down trees for paper which is a definite environmental plus!
Note: The above paragraphs were written NOT to turn you away from the use of traditional paper printed books because they too are a great source of information and should be used by all.
The creation of Ebooks were simply made to give you an alternative way to gain the information and entertainment you desire.
